Greetings All,
Are you looking for something to do in the middle of August in the Wisconsin/Illinois area? Well we can help you - come on out to Border Skirmish! We have rescheduled our event for the weekend of August 15 through the 17th and we hope that many of you can make it. If you are going to Pennsic, well heck you'll still be packed so just pull out the trailer and come on out and if you are not going to Pennsic this will be a great chance to camp in August! Even if you can't camp but would like to come just for the day on Saturday we'd be very happy to see you.

There is an ongoing thread in the Heavy Fighting Area under Tournament Feedback labeled Rose Tourney. Feats, fights, deeds, photo links, who was there and chat of the event can be left there for others as an inspiration for future Rose Tourneys and other tournaments in general. Enjoy!

I will be running Boffers at Rose Tourney this Saturday. This is kind of last minute, so any and all help from other marshals and parents will be appreciated. A youth tourney, for the entertainment of the Roses, has been scheduled for noon. I plan to bring the loaner gear, and hopefully we will have a good turnout.

According to postings by His Excellency Gregoire, Baron Straum was put on vigil at Baronial Border War for elevation into the Order of the Pelican.
The elevation will occur at Pennsic.

So the last time His Grace Brannos laid the thunder down on me, I had to say to myself... how did you hit me yet again? I thought I had learned last time... well... perhaps it was because
I didn't understand how it happened within 10 seconds of the welt swelling up or it was the sting of pain didn't receed until then.
Now I know why I didn't learn, read this link to understand a bit more about memory:

Greetings to the loyal friends of the Griffon and Dragon,
It is with a heavy heart that the Autocrats of Border Skirmish V, set to start today and run through Sunday, inform you that the event is cancelled due to heavy rains last night at the campsite. There is between 2-4 inches of standing water all over the fields. We were hoping that the weather would hold and the event could continue as planned but Mother Nature has decided against that. The skirmish between the Kingdoms of Northshield and the Midrealm has been put on hold for our lands to dry from the wet. We are sorry for the last minute notice to you all.

To all who receive this ... Please forward to any/all Combat Archery mailing lists, archers, & Marshals.
After consultation with numerous officers & Society Earl Marshal Hrothgar ... The following ruling is going into effect:
"Effective immediately, due to manufacturing issues, all one-piece Baldar Blunts are banned from use on the field. These are the style of blunt that have been made for the last two years, that are all black and from a single mold. Baldar Blunts made of a two-piece mold are fine. Marshals, when inspecting Baldar Blunts that are all-black, look for the circumferential partition line that will exist on two-piece blunts and fail any that do not exhibit this."

The battle of Hastings is arguably the most popularly known event in English history, and it is common knowledge that King Harold was killed by an arrow in the eye. That is, however, far from certain.
William of Jumièges, in his brief record of the fighting, asserts:

The Mayor of Pennsic 37 has put out a call for Coats of Arms!
This year at Pennsic War, we are going to have personalized pennants on display for all to see. You can have pennants made for yourself, friends, family members, households, local SCA groups, etc. We also plan on making special pennants for the Kingdoms. The Mayor intends to display them all along the fence on the road near Troll.
Due Date: we will accept submissions until June 15, 2008 OR when we hit our maximum number of requests.

It is with absolutely no joy that I find myself Regent of the Middle Kingdom. Her Grace Aislinn will be assisting me in those duties.
While this is a very unusual situation, it does will not require vast changes to the day to day operation of the Kingdom.
We already have a Crown Tourney scheduled to take place on Sunday May 25th. The format and manor of the tourney will be the same as every other Crown Tourney. The only difference will be that on that day the winner will be Crowned Sovereign and the gentle they fought for will be Crowned Consult.
The new King and Queen will serve for the duration of the normal summer reign. At a time and place to be determained later this summer, another Crown tourney will be held to choose the Heirs who will then step up in September.
If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Duchess Aislinn or myself.
With a bit of hard work and determination, the good works of Lutr and Tessa need not be wasted.

To to the populace of the Middle Kingdom,
We write this missive with a heavy heart. As of last night the BOD has terminated our reign. During the period when Tessa was recovering from her shattered elbow and surgery, we had a hard time juggling personal life and SCA life. Our membership renewal was lost in the mail and by the time we realized it, our membership had lapsed for 3 days. According to Copora, that leads to an automatic termination. We are very sorry for any hurt or pain this may cause to the populace of the Middle Kingdom.
Our kingdom is the best in the knowne world due to it’s populace. We appreciate the support that we were given. It was truly incredible. We hope that everyone will give the same support to our successors no matter who they might be.
